Maycember: When May is busier than December but there are “no presents.”
When you’re in the fine arts field, you can judge how busy your month will be based on how booked the auditorium is. May and December are guaranteed to be busy.
Some of you know my Maycember “season” has been packed more than usual. I have had the sincere pleasure of getting more involved with my church. I signed up to teach a “What The Bible Says about Healthy Living” quarter.
I also helped write some speeches and coach a puppet team for my, ever favorite event since I was eight, Lads to Leaders.
I had to get my kids ready to participate in it as well.
In the school world, we’ve gone BIG this year with a killer Hamilton: An American Musical concert series and Mary Poppins.
I poured my heart in both of these shows. Maycember is always tough. But you know what is the toughest part? Completing Maycember while in grad school. Well, I have a giant announcement.
I AM OFFICIALLY, HANNAH CRUMRINE BRADFORD, M.ED!!! (With a 4.0, might I add)
When choosing a career based on my two passions, I had to decide whether or not I wanted to teach choir or drama. I chose choir based on the job opportunities within the school systems. After receiving my bachelor’s degree in Choral music, I found an incredible school system that saw the value in both fields. So, I went back and got my Master’s degree in Theater Education.
I have a rush if emotions ranging from pride and relief and excitement and determination….but you know what I’m most excited about? These guys.
These guys. I’ve missed them so much. To everything you say “yes” to, you say “no” to something else. I’ve said an awful lot of “no” to bedtime stories, baseball practices, dance rehearsals, date nights, friend time, etc. Everyone around me has been so understanding.
Solomon wisely reminds me that “There is a time for everything, and a season for everything under heaven.” He continues to say, “Everything is meaningless.” Throughout this process, I was continually reminded of the important things around me that have meaning. When this life is over, those papers on my wall, and my job, aren’t the things I can take with me to Eternity. Those folks in that picture get to come with me.
Today is a new day. An exciting day. I spent the whole day with the love of my life.
We set goals for ourselves, planned our future, and laughed. We laughed a lot. God started this family and He has big plans for us. “Every good and perfect gift is from above.” HE is good in Maycember. HE is good all the time.
